A toxicologist from Saint Louis University Anthony Scalzo M.D. has warned parents about the dangers of K2 an unregulated blend of dried herbs often called fake weed that is circulating between teenagers. Dr. Scalzo reported seeing almost 30 cases in the past month of teenage K2 users experiencing hallucinations severe agitation elevated heart rate and blood pressure vomiting like well as tremors and seizures.

K2 is sprayed with a potent psychotropic drug and likely contaminated with an unknown toxic substance that is causing many adverse effects. K2 also known as spice has been sold in the United States since 2006 as incense or potpourri. One ingredient JWH 018 a artificial drug comparable to marijuana may be responsible for the hallucinations; however Dr. Scalzo suspects that another toxic chemical is being sprayed on K2.

According to Dr. Scalzo K2 is likely a bigger problem than parents realize and they should be actively looking for dried herb residues lying round their kids room. Teens with drug problems can get help at wilderness therapy programs where they are far removed from drugs and alcohol and spend each day re-evaluating their choices and futures.
